It has been just over 18 months since I began eating Raw. There is something so incredible about the range of flavours in food that are available to indulge in, when you have removed preservatives and processed food from the majority of your diet.
I first found out about the Raw movement from a seminar organised by my good friend and yoga mentor Rhy. One day she invited me to attend one of her nutrition discussions that considered the importance of including the correct amount of fruit and vegetables in the average diet. I was so impressed that I attended a few more of these seminars.
Each time I went I retained a bit more of the healthy food diet theory that was being shared. After 6 months I had altered my diet to 70% Raw, no processed foods, nothing unnatural, no added sugars, no preservatives and no added MSG. The change in my body was phenomenal. My sleep patterns improved, as did the quality of my sleep. My energy and cognition became incredible. My focus, my alertness, my emotions and even my ability to heal all improved to incredible heights. It’s no wonder this movement excites me so much.
There is an amazing attitude to alternative eating in Western Australia, particularly in Fremantle. Many cafes and restaurants cater to vegetarian, vegans, celiacs and raw diners long the western coastline of this beautiful country. The newest, biggest and most talked about restaurant is The Raw Kitchen.
I have been excited to eat here since the expansion and re-opening, which occurred whilst I was still on a dangerously high dose of Prednisolone. Now I am well and recovered a healthy mind-set on food once more so when Marie suggested we drop in for lunch I couldn’t cotain my excitement!
I don’t want to go on about the food, but MY GOODNESS! If I could eat there every day I would be a happy girl.
Marie and I shared two smoothie flavours whilst waiting for Kale chips, Rubi Lou wedges, zucchini Phad Thai and pumpkin pizza (which was more like a fantastic salad on gluten free base).
The flavours that come out in food when you have removed the overwhelming craving the mind and body has for added salt and sugar…well it is breath taking. The atmosphere matched the quality of the food. If you are the type of person that baulks at the price on a menu jut know that it is well worth very cent.
Long live Fremantles dining culture!

Sounds yummy! I wish we had something like that here. Is everything gluten free? I am not familiar with the details of gluten free diets and only recently heard about the raw diet. I’ve heard only good things about the raw diet so far. I’ll look into it because if it’ll help, especially with energy levels, I would be ecstatic! 🙂
Oh, I forgot to tell you. I nominated you for the Liebster Award. I don’t know if you want to participate or not (I know it’s a lot of questions) but nominated you because I really enjoy your blog. Here’s a link to my post with details and questions if you are interested: http://lupusexperience.wordpress.com/2014/04/27/liebster-award (if the link doesn’t work, it’s my last post on my blog so far). 🙂
